Tu sei il mio Tutto!

 

Tu sei l’unico Tutto! 

 

Gesù partì con i suoi discepoli verso i villaggi vicini a Cesarea di Filippo e, lungo la strada, domandava loro: "La gente, chi dice che io sia?" Essi risposero: "Alcuni dicono Giovanni Battista, altri Elia, e altri ancora uno dei profeti." Gesù allora chiese: "E voi, chi dite che io sia?" Pietro rispose: "Tu sei il Cristo." Gesù ordinò loro severamente di non dire niente a nessuno di lui. 

Ai tempi di Gesù, Cesarea di Filippo era una città importante, situata sulle pendici del monte Hermon, vicino alla sorgente del fiume Giordano. In passato, la città si chiamava Panea, ed era famosa per un tempio dedicato al dio greco Pan (che vuol dire “tutto”) e per una grotta sacra da cui nasceva il fiume. 

Durante l’occupazione romana, Erode Filippo, governatore della regione, ricostruì la città e la rinominò Cesarea in onore dell’imperatore Tiberio. 

Cesarea di Filippo ha un grande significato per la fede cristiana. Secondo il Vangelo, è proprio lì che Gesù chiese ai discepoli chi pensassero che fosse, e Pietro lo riconobbe come il Messia (che vuol dire, Tu sei Tutto, e tutto puoi). Fu in quell’occasione che Gesù disse: "Tu sei Pietro e su questa pietra edificherò la mia chiesa." 

Inoltre, secondo alcune tradizioni, Gesù guarì a Cesarea di Filippo una donna che soffriva da dodici anni di emorragia. 

Oggi, Cesarea di Filippo è un sito archeologico e un parco nazionale. Vi si possono ammirare resti storici, tra cui un antico tempio pagano e la grotta da cui scaturisce la sorgente del fiume Giordano (dov'era stato battezzato). 

 

Preghiamo: Gesù, Tu sei tutto. Tu ci chiedi chi sei per noi, portandoci a riflettere sulla verità della nostra condizione: senza di Te, siamo nulla. Per questo, Signore, invochiamo il Tuo Santo Spirito, affinché possiamo lodarti e amarti come il Tutto della nostra vita, perché in verità Tu sei il nostro unico “Tutto”, il nostro Signore, il nostro Pantocratore! Colui che ci guida, ci domina con amore e occupa ogni spazio del nostro essere. 

Salvami, Signore, e liberami da ogni forma di idolatria che inganna e sottomette il mio cuore. Fa', o Signore, che il Tuo amore regni in me e non permettere che nessuna persona, cosa o preoccupazione mi tenga in ostaggio o in catene. Solo in Te, Signore, affido la mia vita e invoco il Tuo pieno dominio, perché Tu mi ami e mi custodisci. 

Tu che vivi e regni nei secoli dei secoli.

You are the only Everything!

Jesus set out with His disciples toward the villages near Caesarea Philippi, and along the way He asked them, "Who do people say that I am?" They replied, "Some say John the Baptist, others Elijah, and still others one of the prophets." Jesus then asked, "But who do you say that I am?" Peter answered, "You are the Christ." And Jesus strictly ordered them not to tell anyone about Him.

In the time of Jesus, Caesarea Philippi was an important city located on the southern slopes of Mount Hermon, near the source of the Jordan River. The city was originally called Paneas, known for its temple dedicated to the Greek god Pan (whose name means “everything”) and for a sacred cave from which the river originated.

During the Roman occupation, Herod Philip, governor of the region, rebuilt the city and renamed it Caesarea in honor of Emperor Tiberius.

Caesarea Philippi holds great meaning for the Christian faith. According to the Gospel, it was there that Jesus asked His disciples who they thought He was, and Peter recognized Him as the Messiah (meaning, You are Everything and You can do all things). On that occasion, Jesus said, "You are Peter, and on this rock I will build My Church."

Also, according to some traditions, Jesus healed a woman in Caesarea Philippi who had suffered from hemorrhages for twelve years.

Today, Caesarea Philippi is an archaeological site and a national park. Visitors can admire historic remains, including a pagan temple and the cave where the Jordan River’s (where Jesus was baptized) source still flows.

Let us pray: Jesus, You are everything. You ask us who You are to us, leading us to reflect on the truth of our condition: without You, we are nothing. For this reason, Lord, we call upon Your Holy Spirit, so that we may praise and love You as the All of our lives—because in truth, You are our only “Everything,” our Lord, our Pantocrator! The One who lovingly leads us, reigns in us, and fills every space of our being.

Save me, Lord, and free me from every form of idolatry that deceives and enslaves my heart. Let Your love reign in me, Lord, and do not allow any person, thing, or worry to hold me hostage or in chains. In You alone, Lord, I entrust my life and invoke Your full dominion, because You love me and guard me.
