Trial as a "Certificate of Worth"
In the language of spirituality, an obstacle is almost never a coincidence. If we imagine life as an invisible battlefield, the adversary does not waste energy on those who are already standing still or those who do not shine. The "demon"—or the forces of negativity and discouragement—strikes hardest at those who have the potential to kindle a light for others.
1. The Sign of Contradiction
If you are being hindered, it means you are moving in the right direction. The wind blows strongest against those who advance, not those who remain seated. The trial thus becomes a confirmation that your path has objective value. You are a threat to the darkness because you carry within you a "good" that has yet to fully bloom.
2. The Strategy of Discouragement
The goal of the obstacle is not just to stop you, but to make you doubt yourself. If evil succeeds in convincing you that you are weak, unlucky, or incapable, it has won without even fighting. Discouragement is the weapon that transforms a potential bearer of light into a passive spectator of their own life.
3. The Wound that Becomes a Window
Often, those who are "heavily tried" develop a sensitivity and empathy that others do not possess. Your scars are the channels through which you will be able to understand and heal the wounds of others. Jesus himself, in the mystery of the Passion, was the most tried man in history precisely because he was the bearer of the Supreme Good.
Guided Reflection: "The Weight of Gold"
Use these points to shift your vision in moments of exhaustion:
- Recognize your Light: Stop and think: "If the obstacle is this great, how great must the good be that I am destined to accomplish?" The more precious the cargo of gold, the more guarded and difficult the journey will be.
- Do not identify with the trial: You are not your exhaustion. You are the one carrying a precious weight through the storm. Weariness belongs to the body and the mind, but your essence remains intact.
- To resist is already to win: Every time you do not give up, you are performing an act of love toward those who will benefit from your future good. Your resilience today is someone else’s hope tomorrow.
"The strongest souls are those forged through suffering. The most massive characters are seared with scars."
A Prayer for the Bearer of Light
Lord,
In the silence of this moment, I come to You,
carrying the weight of my weariness and the scars of my trials.
You who spoke from the cloud, saying: "This is my beloved Son, listen to him,"
grant me the grace to listen to that same voice in the desert of my own heart.
Father,
When the wind of discouragement blows hard against me,
remind me that it only strikes those who are moving toward You.
When the adversary seeks to make me doubt my worth,
whisper to my soul that these obstacles are but a "certificate of value"—
a sign that the good I carry is precious and feared by the darkness.
Jesus, Contemplative in Action,
Teach me to withdraw into Your silence.
Help me to drop my worries like stones at Your feet,
so that I may be empty of fear and full of Your Presence.
Transform my wounds into windows of light,
that my suffering may one day become a source of healing for others.
Holy Spirit,
Be my strength when my legs grow weak.
Let me not identify with my exhaustion, but with the Light that dwells within me.
I offer You my resistance today as an act of love for those I will help tomorrow.
Grant me the peace of the mountain, even as I walk thro ugh the valley.
Amen.
