Pregare per i morti

 

La preghiera per i morti non è mai uno spreco.
È sempre, e sarà sempre, espressione di amore, di fede, di speranza.
Amare chi è passato oltre non è superstizione:
è fedeltà al Vangelo,
è comunione che attraversa la morte,
è riconoscere che l’amore non si spezza, ma si trasfigura.

Chi non crede può non comprendere.
Alcuni, anche tra fratelli cristiani di altre confessioni, possono argomentare, discutere, interpretare diversamente.
Ma la preghiera cattolica per i defunti nasce dall’amore di Cristo,
non da superstizione, non da paura, non da condanna.

Chi prega per i morti lo fa con il cuore rivolto a Gesù,
morto e risorto,
affidando i propri cari alla sua misericordia,
nella speranza della Pasqua eterna,
dove non ci saranno più lacrime, né lutto, né separazione.

Solo il Figlio dell’Uomo può giudicare i vivi e i morti.
Non noi.
Non le teorie.
Non le polemiche.
Solo Lui, che ha dato la vita per tutti,
può accogliere, purificare, salvare.

E noi, nel silenzio della fede,
continuiamo a pregare,
perché l’amore non muore,
e la comunione dei santi è più forte della morte.

Prayer for the dead is never a waste.
It is always—and will always be—an expression of love, of faith, and of hope.
To love those who have passed beyond is not superstition:
it is fidelity to the Gospel,
it is communion that crosses the threshold of death,
it is the conviction that love endures beyond time.

Those who do not believe may not understand.
Some, including Protestant brothers and sisters or other Christian denominations, may offer arguments, interpretations, or critiques.
But Catholic Christians pray for the dead out of love—love rooted in Jesus.
They do not do so with malice or fear,
but with hearts full of faith in the crucified and risen Christ,
entrusting their loved ones to his mercy
and to the hope of eternal Easter,
where there will be no more tears.

Only the Son of Man can judge the living and the dead.
Not us.
Not theories.
Not polemics.
Only He, who gave His life for all,
can welcome, purify, and save.

And we, in the silence of faith,
continue to pray,
because love does not die,
and the communion of saints is stronger than death.
