The angel answered, “The Holy Spirit will come on you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God." (Luke 1:35)The moment of annunciation of Mary as we used to imagine was a joyful moment, because Jesus is coming. Many christians are myeloids, meaning they love to imagine romantic sceneries of faith, neglecting to see the historical side that gives the truth of the reality.
The annunciation happened when everything was truely a disaster in Jerusalem. The Roman Empire colony as considered pagan abomination to the Holy City, and the taxes the people pay; the poor were becoming poorer, the sick were abandoned, the widows were abused, etc. It wasn’t really the best moment, because Herod the Great ruling tyranny over the land.
Then the Angel told her of God’s design: “The Holy Spirit will come on you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God."
1. The Holy Spirit will come on you
2. The power of the Most High will overshadow you
The mystery of the Annunciation is not something easy to deal, considering all the factors that are surrounding, the socio-political situation and the religious decline. Mary was assured to the promise of the Angel. If God asks us something let’s never forget that He provides us the Holy Spirit and His presence will over shadow us.

“I am the Lord’s servant,” Mary answered. “May your word to me be fulfilled.” Then the angel left her. Lk 1:38In this moment like this, we will keep the word of God in our hearts, and remember that it’s not easy to deal with but with God we can deal and be witnesses to His power and might.
